Makane Kouyate's African Orchestra at the Shrine
What a joy it was to see (and hear) Makane Kouyate's band to perform African music at the Shrine. The legendary formation, which formerly rocked the floor at St. Nick's Pub every Saturday may actually bring their spirit to this place on some more regular basis. It's hard to imagine a better place (except the RIP St. Nicks Himself) for this fantastic band, in which you will find the most talented, devoted and interesting musicians. Another reason not to leave (or come to) Harlem on a Saturday night is now here. Trust me on this --- it's the best stuff you can get in the city, and now in a place that requires no introduction.
