Filip is a New York based event, food, travel and aerial photographer with a unique talent at capturing the moment and emotion in all situations. Originally from Poland, Filip’s sensibility has developed further through his experience in the underground New York scene, and later around the world. His particular depiction of the reality is characterized by a colder point of view which has already helped him gain recognition in the photo world by, being included in recently issued PDN's photo album featuring the unique and specials views of New York City.

This recognition has been recently (September 2011) sealed as his photo displaying a crowd drowning in the smoke at Cielo club won the 'The Scene' PDN competition (professional submissions) and will be published in the December issue of PDN.

After several years in the web-design and IT business, Filip is now concentrating on his photography career, and brings to his images the same orientation to detail, commitment, professionalism and perfectionism. Filip always offers interesting and relevant creative input to his clients, helping them develop their ideas even further.

Multi-talented Filip has created a universe where his skills as a photographer, designer, web developer, airplane pilot and human-being, join here to help combine art and social interaction.

Filip asked me to write about him for this "About" page on his website. He wanted somebody who knew his craft and worked closely with him on projects to say in few words what kind of experience it is to create together. That's totally him! Always respecting what people around have to say and appreciating all kinds of criticism on his art, Filip doesn't really like to talk about it himself. Are you surprised? I'm not. If he liked talking about his photography he would have to just scream "That's beautiful!".

Filip's photography includes many varieties and each of them clearly shows he's not a stranger to challenges. When I first approached him asking if he was interested in working on ALCHEMIQ project with me he listened carefully to my idea and said "I hope you're a good beverage stylist!". He knew that it would be months of team work and that a responsibility for the final effect was on both ends. He took the risk and teamed up with me even though it was my first beverage styling work. After few months I was pleased with effects of it. His good energy, great communication skills and patience were precious! There was never nothing more important than having every little detail of every single picture nailed to perfection.

Once Filip takes out his camera you can clearly see he's in his own beautiful world of capturing moments. If you spent some time with him observing the way he thinks and works you will realize he's born to work with lenses and light. His perfectionism does the rest and this website shows it!

I met Filip Wolak about one and half year ago at a friends party, while he was taking photographs for the event. Our group was performing Capoeira at that time. He approached me and I was surprised with his easy and creative personality. I invited him to come and take some pics at the grand opening of my new monthly theme event TOCA CIELO at the legendary Cielo Club in NYC.

His picture album of that night was a sensation within the Ale' Ale' Community and Facebook. In a short period of time Filip Wolak became the resident photographer of the very successful TOCA CIELO event. Filip captures the true essence of the night. The feelings of the the crowd as a whole and individual emotions that exude from body movements. They are capture in a way the you can tell people are enjoying themselves. You can almost taste it. The lighting in a club is a tough thing to work with yet somehow he manages to get the shots.

Filip has become my good friend due to his professionalism, the love of his art and the respect I have for him. He is a true artists and I love what he has done for my events. He is a likeable person and I am glad that he approach me that time.

TOCA CIELO would not be the same if he wasn't present at all our evens. When he left NYC to do his long trip, I got many many inquiries of his whereabouts. He has set his mark in our hearts and in our life. I am proud to say he is my friend and I am glad that we work together.
